Services

Our Services The services of the NICD are now realigned to position the Institute as a national public health institution focusing on surveillance, reference and research to mention a few.  It thus serves South Africa, the SADC region and the African continent as the organ for gathering intelligence on communicable diseases of relevance to the country, to the region and to the continent.  The public health orientation of the Institute has been further promoted by transferring much of the routine patient-orientated clinical diagnostic work formerly carried out by the NIV to on-site laboratories and teaching hospitals in the region.
